MAPPA (Multi agency public protection arrangements)
-
A process determined by the Criminal Justice Act (2003), designed to bring together key agencies to coordinate and manage those individuals returning to or in the community, who present a risk of serious harm to the public in general - and to children and vulnerable adults in particular. The arrangements are led by the responsible authority for each area, which comprises the probation service, police service and prison service.
Moderate Learning Difficulty
-
Children with moderate learning difficulties will have attainments significantly below expected levels in most areas of the curriculum, despite appropriate interventions. Their needs will not be able to be met by normal differentiation and the flexibilities of the National Curriculum.
They have much greater difficulty than their peers in acquiring basic literacy and numeracy skills and in understanding concepts. They may also have associated speech and language delay, low self-esteem, low levels of concentration and under-developed social skills.
Multi-agency meetings
-
The term “multi-agency meeting” can be used to refer to any sort of meeting that brings together a range of different services – specifically about individual children. Meetings of this sort include: Inclusion Support Meetings; Pastoral Support Meetings; Planning and Action Meetings; ”Team around the child” meetings
