General Description : Our aim is to prevent re-offending by children and young people. The Youth Offending Team offers interventions, advice and guidance to young people and their parents; direct work, mentoring and group work with young people, in relation to the causative factors of their offending behaviour.Access and Availability : The Youth Offending Team provides a Countywide service in relation to young people in trouble with the law – largely young people on final warnings (often second offence) and court orders – plus some work with young people at risk of offending.

1. Ref A1: Children & young people who live in inadequate accommodation or are homeless
2. Ref A2: Children & young people who live in disadvantaged neighbourhoods
3. Ref B2b: Children & young people where there are drug or alcohol misuse problems within the family
4. Ref B3: Children & young people from families under stress - because of low income and unemployment
5. Ref B5: Children & young people who are exposed to domestic violence
6. Ref B6a: Children & young people who experience family breakdown, separation or divorce (incl change of home base and carer)

8. Ref C2: Children & young people who do not receive stimulation, support and encouragement from their family environment, including children whose parents have poor literacy skills

10. Ref C4: Children & young people who do not receive appropriate parental guidance or control
11. Ref D1: Children & young people who experience multiple changes of school placement
12. Ref D2: Children & young people who experience poor relationships with school staff
13. Ref D3: Children & young people who are out of school - because of exclusion or truancy

15. Ref E1: Children & young people who are bullied
16. Ref E2: Children & young people who suffer racial abuse
17. Ref E3: Children & young people who are victims of crime
