Description: This course covers 3 days. 2 days input and a follow up consolidation day. There is an expectation that applicants will attend all three dates.
PLACES WILL BE OFFERED ONLY TO THOSE WHO CAN ATTEND THE FULL 3 DAYS.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES-
1) To introduce the basic principles and techniques of solution focused practice
2) To provide opportunities to discuss the principles and practise some of the techniques
3) To give participants an understanding of the overall approach
4) To enable participants to introduce solution-focused skills into their everyday practice
COURSE INFORMATION-
This is a 3-day course which provides an excellent introduction to Solution Focused work with children and families.
Beginning with an overview of the approach, participants will be taken through its various elements in detail.
A range of teaching methods will be used, with a particular focus on experiential exercises, in pairs and small groups, and modelling via video extracts of the teachers own practice.
Participants will be provided with a comprehensive work booklet and reading list.
There will be ample space for discussion of issues, both practice and theory related, as well as case studies. And there is an expectation that participants will commit themselves to the three days to maximise the benefits of the learning outcomes.

Terms and conditions of your application
Cost: The training is funded by agencies that contribute to the Wiltshire Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) Interagency Training Fund. For the Agencies that contribute there is no individual charge to attend the course. These agencies are Wiltshire Council - Department for Children and Education; Children Centres and Nurseries; Wiltshire NHS; Wiltshire Schools (not academies or independent schools); Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Probation. Agencies that do not contribute to the fund are expected to pay a rate of £125.00 per person per day and £60 per person per half day. However agencies that wish to make advanced block bookings will be offered a discounted rate similar to that of above agencies. Please contact the Staff Development Team to discuss 01225 756185. The LSCB reserves the right to offer small charities discounted rates where appropriate.
Other Details: Please bring your own lunch.
Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival and during breaks.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A £40 charge will be implemented if you fail to attend, or cancel your attendance in less than 10 working days before the course. You must ensure that you mark your attendance on the course register on the day so we have a record that you attended. If you are unable to attend please cancel by login to your account, click on ‘Track, change or cancel my applications’, click on ‘Cancel’ button next to the course. You & the course organiser will receive confirmation of your cancellation.
ATTENDANCE
Timings are strictly adhered to during the training, so if you cannot attend the full course for any reason, we would request that you cancel your place on the course and re-apply for a more suitable date.
