Search for Services
Here you can find out about what services there are, what they do, who can use them and how to contact themThe website gives access to the service descriptions that were put together as part of the Wiltshire Children's Services Pathways Project. This includes not only general descriptions of what services do but also information about what they specifically do in response to a range of problems - obstacles to health & development - which children, young people and their families may encounter. Here you will find information about 60 different types of services and details of 300 local access points through which they can be contacted.
You can search for the information you want in a number of different ways:
-
1. Search by type of
help required
If you know the type of help you are looking for (e.g. help with children's behaviour or counselling for young people), you can find out who provides this sort of help. More than 40 different types of help are listed for you to choose from.
-
2. Search by need, obstacle
or problem
If you know the "problem" you want help with (e.g. School difficulties or Family breakdown), you can search to find out what services may help and what they may do. These categories are based on those used in the Wiltshire Children's Services Pathways Project. There are 37 "obstacles to health & development" for you to choose from.
-
3. Search by type of
service
Select a service category - like "Health" or "Education" - and view the different services that are in that category. But note that as children & young people’s services become more joined up, these categories are becoming less relevant.
-
4. Search by geographical area
If you want to know what services are available in a particular part of Wiltshire, you can select one of Wiltshire's 20 "Community Areas" and view a list of the services for children & young people in that area. Click on a service to find out more, including contact details. You can print off an Area service directory if you want - for one area alone or for a number together. You can even create your own personal list of key telephone numbers by selecting the services that you most need to contact and printing off a sheet to go on your notice board.

Help for Families
Guide families through a self-assessment processThis is a self-assessment format, which takes parents through a 5-step process including: identifying the family's strengths and difficulties, how things could be different, and the services that might help to make a difference. It is designed to be completed electronically and then printed off (no information is stored) but at each stage forms can be run off and completed by hand instead. Used online, parents can access contact information for the services that might help them.
